Guide to Wavy Hair
4:42 PM1) Shower. Or don't. Your personal hygiene is your business.
2) I let my hair air dry because it's less heat and my hair is easier to work with than when I blow dry it but if you like to blow dry your hair go for it.
3) Since I do air dry my hair I like to make sure my hair drys straight as possible. So, I use a few products to do this.
This is the best product ever. It smells amazing and helps add body to my hair as it drys. I also consistently brush my hair as it drys or it will dry wavy.
4) Add a heat protectant!
5) Once my hair is dry I add a shining serum.
6) Once my hair is completely dry, I part it and then add a little hairspray to add some texture so it holds the curls better.
This hairspray is a must if you want your curls to last all night. I'm not kidding my curls lasted all night and where still wavy in the morning!
7) The curling iron is really important. If you want this particular style of curls you'll want an 1.5" inch barrel.
This one is the gold plated Revlon 1.5 inch barrel. I really love it and have come to find through my many years of existence, that it's better to spend a little more money on curling irons cause they tend to work better and last longer!
8) Section your hair. Begin by clipping the top portion back and start curling the underneath portion of your hair.
9) Take small sections of your hair, about inch worth, and wrap around the curling iron away from your face! Now, I've watched tutorials where people will use the clamp and then curl but I get an intent in my hair from using it so I just open the clamp and wrap my hair around the barrel. Remember, away from your face! If you want retro looking curls then do it towards your face but if you want these type of curls you'll be super sad with the result if you don't curl away from the face.
10) Leave about a inch to a half inch of the ends of your hair out of the curling iron. You want the ends to be straight to add a longer look, mostly for people with medium to shorter hair.
11) After you curl each section add hairspray each time.
12) Continue to curl each piece. Once the bottom section is done, start curling the top portion.
13) Once your hair is completely curled, let it cool for about 3 mins then hairspray it all over. Then flip your hair and hair spray underneath as well.
14) Use your fingers to loosen the curls. Hairspray.
15) Then use a small comb and comb through the curls once more so you don't have a super stiff look from the hairspray. Hairspray once more avoiding the roots and only on the curls to avoid a crunchy look. We want natural. I will also use the comb to add some volume. I take the ends of my hair & comb upward to add some body.
I hope this was easy to follow & your waves turned out as you wanted! Just avoid candles or any flames for your hair will be highly flammable. ;)
