To-do & what not To-do
5:33 PMI will never be that girl with seven planners for each day of the week but I know how to "cheat" my way into being organized.
What I mean by that is, I basically just use other people's organizational ideas and use them when necessary. It's not something that comes extremely natural for me even though I love to be organized, I have to work at it.
The hardest part is doing things right away. For example, I have an extreme hatred for hanging up my clothes. I can't tell you why, er- actually I can. I wait to do laundry until I have nothing to wear, so I have about five loads worth of clothes and then it takes me about two hours to sort through my clothes and hang them up. If I just did a little at one time, it would make my life a whole lot easier!
So, my lack of natural talent for organization is where "to-do lists" come into play. I make a to-do list almost every week and without it, I wouldn't get things done. I like seeing with my eyes, what it is I need to do, so I'll actually do it.
I'm always looking up ways of being more productive. One I came across, which has actually helped, is setting a timer for the things that are highest "priority" on my list that I need to get done in the day.
I also came across, (surfing through Pinterest) free printable daily or weekly to-do lists! They just help organize your thoughts and look prettier than just jotting things down on a note pad. This way you can hang it up and look at it throughout the day. I have a link for a few I printed out and absolutely love!
This one I thought was super creative! If you can get my to-do list to feel like a game, I'm sold!
This cute little planner I got from Barnes & Noble. You see, when I'm on the go, I get a lot of people that want me to fit them into my schedule. So, having this portable planner with me helps me juggle my crazy fan base and social life. I can just stick it in my purse and go!
I have no idea where I got these cute heart shaped note pads but they sit on my desk collecting dust all while remaining super cute. (Overusing the word "cute")
"Action expresses priorities" could not be a truer statement. So, whatever you make important in your life, is what you'll accomplish!
I'd love for people to share their ideas on how they stay organized throughout the week!
Also, a big thank you to whoever that girl was that sat in front of me in my lecture. Those laminated note cards pulled through on those late nights I silently cried reading though them. No more smudged notecards.
Xoxo, Jen
