23 Things to Accomplish While I'm Twenty-Three

7:30 AM

You know that blink 182 song? It goes something like "nobody likes you when you're 23." Yeah, that was sorta my feelings toward turning twenty-three this year.
However, it's inevitable, this getting older each year thing. So, I'm gonna make the best of it.
Each year I tell myself I'm going to do things to step out of comfort zone. Most of them never actually get accomplished because it's easier to settle where you're comfortable. Being vulnerable is terrifying yet rewarding.

So, I'm making a list of 23 things I want to accomplish while I'm still twenty-three because screw you blink 182! I want people to like me!

1) Sing in public.
I'm putting this as my number one thing to accomplish because it's been something I've held back my entire life. Singing for me has always been a HUGE part of me. It's my closet hobby. I'm terribly shy when it comes to showing off my singing abilities. I always diminish them and I tend to shy from the spot light. But hell I'm twenty three now, it's about time.

2) Write more! (Possibly publish a work)
This is just something I need to make myself do every day. Not including my blog but just writing short stories and perfecting the craft. I always say I'm too busy but I can put in a good hour before bed cause who knows, I could have some brilliant idea and become the next J.K. Rowling. A girl can have dreams.

3) Work out consistently.
This may start to be boarding lining a "life-style change list," but it's something I want to accomplish. Not just to be healthy but to feel good. I'm a healthy eater but never consistent about working out. I go in spurts. So, I want to make it just a part of my life. Suggestions of activities to help keep me consistent are welcome! I've been thinking about Barr. I've heard great things and since I was a dancer I feel like it would be right up my ally.

4) Take a cooking class.
I LOVE FOOD. I mean I'd consider it an actual hobby of mine. Just eating and giving my unwanted, unrespected opnion of how I feel it was. I always say how it would be awesome to have my own food network channel and just travel the world. That's actually my dream job. Anyway I've always wanted to take a cooking class and I'm gonna do it. I'm doing it guys. I'll even post a picture to prove it!

5) Save money.
I don't know why it's taken me twenty three years to decide to save my money but better late than never! Since school is coming to a close and the procepects of moving out of state are becoming more real, saving is always a good thing. General ideas of keeping organized with money and techniques to make it easier are always appreciated! I NEED HELP. TAKE MY COMPUTER AND CREDIT CARD FROM ME! ALSO, MY PHONE WHILE YOU'RE AT IT.

6) Take a coding class.
I'm not like some tech genius or anything but I'd love to be mildly tech inclined! Everything these days is computer based and learning some of those skills will also be interesting for myself (for sure stepping out of my realm of conform) but also useful thing to know about. Karlie Kloss, (a super successful model and also apart of Taylor Swifts girl squad. LoL. She should totally put that on a resume. I'd give her the job right off the bat,) has a YouTube channel called "Klossy." I'm mildly obsessed with her and that's because she's brainy and intriguing. She has a program called "Koding with Karlie" or something along those lines, so it inspired me.

7) Start a weekly YouTube channel with the boyfriend.
We have already some what publicized this idea. The idea is us basically critiquing movies/tv shows. We both love sharing our opinions even if no one cares. We actually did a video but want to re-do it so don't worry it's coming!

8) Visit one state I've never been to.
My complete goal is to go to every state before I die. I mean that's not a too outlandish goal.

9) Watch a play/go to the theatre.
Believe it or not I've never actually been to a play. I mean not counting school plays and such but never a professional play. It needs to happen.

10) Play the Piano More.
I don't know why I even said "more" cause that would be implying that I play a "little" but that is in fact a lie. I never play. I have an unused key board in my room and that is just not okay. So my goal is to at least be able to play 10 new songs by the time I turn twenty four.

11) Get my own place. (With my boyfriend of course, I know he'll read this)
It's about that time. I've wanted to get my own place for awhile now but this is the year.

12) Read more.
I read a lot but like you can never read too much? I wanna set a goal of how many books in a year I should read and that is yet to be determined...

13) Cut my hair again.
One could argue that isn't considered an "accomplishment," or something to accomplish but I do so I don't care what you think.

14) Get a new car.
People who know me well, know that I've had some pretty poor luck with cars but 23 is the year of NO car issues....at least very minimal. Please, for the love of God.

15) Find a job I love.
Obviously I would blog if it paid lol well some companies actually do hire people to blog so maybe that will be the avenue I'll venture down. But a real accomplishment I want to set for myself, is to find work I'm passionate about. I will be saying goodbye to the nanny life for good by the end of the year!

16) Write letters to people I've lost contact with.
I have so many family members I hardly ever see or really talk to at all. It's been an agenda of mine to write personal letters. Especially family like my great-grandmother who had a recent accident but is still pulling through at 98! I know she would love a hand written letter and I want to do it before I don't have a chance to.

17) Go horse back riding.
I'm putting it on my list cause I've been wanting to for years now! I loved doing it when I was younger and haven't had he chance. There is literally a neighbor (across the street) who has a field of horses. If I'm desperate enough I'll just jump over the fence and hop on one. I'll most likely just ask first though.

18) Move out of state.
This is a major possibility. My boyfriend currently accepted an internship in Virgina and hell if you don't remember, I'm 23, if I'm gonna move and explore now is the time!

19) Take some sort of athletic/sport class.
Let me clarify, I am HORRIBLE at sports. I mean I can kick a ball around and I mean a soccer ball....
But I never pushed myself to play any sort of sport well and I've turned out just fine and I'm content with it but I want to have some sort of ability with playing either golf (gag) or tennis. This is all about stepping out of my comfort zone and it can't hurt to learn the basics.

20) Learn how to play poker.
My boyfriend breifly taught me the basics but I wanna learn so I can actually play! Here is why. I never grew up learning how to play things like chess, or poker and I sorta wish I had. I just feel like I can be more involved with things and again push myself to try new things.

21) Visit South Carolina.
I used to go every single year. A lot of my mums family live there and I miss it. It's been almost five years since I've visited, so I was around 18-19? Yeah.

22) Go Camping.
I used to go every year with my dad. It's some of the best memories I had when I was kid. From the smell of bonfire, to just being out in nature. It's so refreshing and I'm overdue for an outdoor trip.

Last but not least. I'm gonna be honest making this list was tough. Thinking of 23 things doesn't seem like a lot until you actually sit down and write them.

23) Get my Masters Degree.
Obviously for one I need to finish my bachelors degree and two I can't get my masters in a year but I want to engage in the process of going toward getting my masters. I want to do it now before I decide to not ever do it.

I love setting goals for myself, even if I don't always get to them all it makes me reflect on what I want to achieve for myself and always striving for better each year is always a great thing. Cheers to turning 23 this year and cheers to the hopes people will still like me even though twenty three truly isn't the most likable number.
