1989 Ford Field Concert Review
6:38 PMI would have added more exclamation points to that but I needed to mildly contain myself....
So, a little back story you have to first just envision this....I had causally been sulking around the entire day about not being present for this event that I couldn't really afford due to my lack of funds from a consistent amount of sushi bills but that's beside the point. I had also been at the gym for two hours trying to distract myself so I wasn't looking so hot. I had been texting my friends to plan a fun night that could get my mind off the fact I wasn't going to be there. It was around 4:30p.m, Saturday, the night of the concert, I get a text from my friend that says, "Umm, is there any way you want to pay $75 to go to the Taylor swift concert with me hahahaha."
I ran to the shower and got ready quicker than you could say Taylor Swift. I grabbed whatever was on my floor put it on and was out the door. (*slamin' screen door.)
It's now been two days later and I still have to pinch myself or more accurately look through my photos to believe I actually went.
The Verdict: I give the show a solid A not quite an A+ but border line almost A+ and I will give my single reason why in a moment....
So the headliners were 'ehhh' the first one we missed and was quite frankly irrelevant cause I didn't actually see him perform and don't feel like taking the time to look up who he was...I mean that with NO disrespect he could have been great I just wasn't there to witness it. The second headliner was Vance Joy, who quite frankly was quite good looking mostly because he was Australian and had a full head of flowing curly locks. His music was also not so bad and he did keep the interest of the crowd....and I'm going to be honest right now I just looked up more about Vance and I wasn't aware that the very popular song "Riptide" was actually his song. He sang it at the concert but I being unaware of who he was thought he was covering it. So I might take back my "ehhh" to a "pleasantly pleased" just for that song because I really like that song. However, he could have ampted it up a little more....some songs where actually making my eyes a little heavy which may have to do with his voice just being very soothing which isn't all bad.
To the actually star of the show. The opening was epic I felt as if I was actually being "Welcomed to New York," which was the first song she sang. It had a very Broadway feel to it. She continued with hit after hit and mainly songs from her 1989 album hence the 1989 tour....
There were two songs I surprisingly didn't recognize which we figured were from her delux album which had bonus songs. She narrated the concert with a perfect "Taylor swift vibe" that actually at moments touched me. She has a way with words that you could tell touched the entire stadium. During small stage setups and quick changes on the screen she had one on one questions with her celebrity best friends such as Selena Gomez, Cara Delevinge, Karly Kloss, and Lena Dunham along with a few more. I thought it was endearing and that I got to know Taylor a little more on a personal level. She also gave a short video of her and her cats which was quite hilarious to witness.
A few surprise guests also showed up one being lead band member of imagine dragons. They both belted out the hit "radioactive" which was amazing to watch. And speaking of watches...more accurately wristbands....
On every single person in the ford field stadium 51,000 people had a white wristband attached to their seats. At the beginning of the show each person had to pull out a plastic piece and wait for the show to begin. As the songs would play the wristband would light up according to the song. Each wristband was computerized and it added so much effect to the show. The entire stadium was lit up with these wristbands and I thought this was genius.
Another surprise guest were two of her 'bad blood' costars...two models who strutted the runway type stage as Taylor sang her heart out.
So to the one fault in my opinion of the show....
She played at least three or maybe four throwbacks, which to me quite frankly wasn't enough or the right throwbacks. I was expecting to hear some of her old songs the ones that made me fall in love with her music...I'm quite obsessed with her album 'red' and I had a few songs in mind like 'all too well' that I was hoping she would perform but I did come to realize the show is only two hours and that's not near enough time to play the amount of hits she has under her belt. The positive part of her throwbacks that I enjoyed was she changed them so much you had to listen hard to the lyrics to distinguish what song it was. I think it's genius when an artist can take their song and make it something new. She also stayed along the lines of her theme '1989' and gave a very 80s vibe to the songs.
The last song she played was her first hit from her 1989 album "shake it off." It ended with the perfect amount of energy and light with fireworks going off everywhere and for sure ended the concert with a bang.
It was the best concert I have ever attended. I say that however and I haven't been to many "super star" shows. I'm very into small indie bands and have attended only small venue concerts such as 'the head and the heart' which was much more low key than the Taylor Swift concert to say the least.
Me to the right & my friend to the left.
I hope Taylor continues to travel the exact path she is paving because she is on top of the world right now. I think she is a role model young girls and girls in general should aspire to be. My respect and admiration grows everyday. I've grown up with her and hope to continue growing with her even when she's singing tunes from her rocker with her cats sleeping on her lap. Keep doing you.
And this was my sad attempt to directly somehow contact her cause my obsession has reached an all time high...
Haters gonna hate but I'm just gonna shake it off.

Really Jenna...I think a tear formed because your so amazingly descriptive and your "love" for her is real! I love her too and we should all be the best of family friends! Actually, there's many things of Taylor that reminds me of you!! We still need to send some of your writings because they were perfectly written off Taylor to sing or maybe a duo with you too! Thanks for sharing your experience.
