What's To Come

7:07 PM

You know the phrase that everyone hates hearing and reading when the new year rolls around? It’s mainly used by girls who think a new year will escape them from all their regrettable mistakes when in all actuality it will follow them for years to come. Guess yet? “New Year, New me.” Well, for me, that won’t be applying because reality is, I know I won’t give up my unhealthy diet of sushi, and I know I’m never going to go to the gym as much as I should. My blog however, has been chanting that ever since the clock struck midnight.

“New Year, New Me. New Year, New Me. And it’s all in your hands Jen, so don’t let me down.”
Ugh, blogs are so bossy.

I want to create a space for myself that I can share all sorts of ideas and thoughts that come to me but in a more organized fashion. Example:

Monday: Recipe

Wednesday: Crafts

Friday: Free thoughts (a story or something I want to rant about)

I also want a space that people can come to be inspired by, laugh at (hopefully not directly) and get interactive with! This year, my hope, is that people will get more involved with posts I write and as an incentive, I want to do giveaways. I would start off small, such as gift baskets and bigger prizes such as clothes!

My blog will be getting a whole new makeover. So, she gets what she wants, a whole new look. I will have dates coming within the month of when this will start and when it will be finished. I’m not doing anything extreme, just something that is simple, clean and easier to navigate around. My posts also tend to get erratic and out of sorts, so for those who just want to look at “Fashion posts” or “Jen’s Rants” for example, I want a space that can sort those posts.

I’m finally starting a Youtube channel with my boyfriend this year. We will be reviewing films we see and share our favorites. We’ve attempted to do this a few times and they all ended up being so long and then found out how much work it is to edit and cut videos, that we sort of swept it under the rug and would just spew our opinions on each other and other people. I believe it’s something we are both passionate about (film and giving our opinion) and want to share that with people. I will be incorporating our reviews with my blog, so I will be giving written reviews on here and links to our video as well.

This is all under construction. So far, this is an obscure vision of ideas of what I want my blog to become. I’ve always used it as an outlet to get thoughts out into the universe but mostly because I just enjoy writing, and its way for me to practice and get better. I never tried that hard to make it anything more that a small platform for me to share some stories with family and friends but I think I want to push myself to make it something more. I want to challenge myself and step out of my element. Even though I’ve had a blog for several years now, I’m very new to how it all works. So, be easy on me because this is all going to be self taught.

The concept of my blog I want to keep the same. A “lifestyle” blog filled with my opinions of products, stories, movies and share what I love. I want to incorporate more photography in my posts because I enjoy that as well. I don’t want to become a blog that seems “fake” if you will. I’ve come across so many blogs that seem all the same. They just push through advertisements that I highly doubt they believe in for money, and their goals seem more to strive towards more followers than great content. I know parts of that is necessary for those who make a living off of a blog but quality will always be my priority.

So, those are my hopes and dreams of what I want my blog to be this year. I want to challenge my knowledge of the blogging world and I want to explore what I can become as a writer. Please, comment and voice your thoughts of posts I write! I appreciate every comment, text or message I get from posts I write because it's such an encouragement for me to continue to make this more than just diary of thoughts but a platform to bring people together. Cheesy I know, but everyone loves cheese.

Stay tuned for a year of “challenging myself.”
